- A Canadian Civil Defense blanket is a heavy-duty, vintage military surplus wool blanket originally manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s. These blankets were issued by the Canadian Emergency Health Services (EHS) and the Department of National Defense (DND) for use in emergency preparedness, military barracks, and civil defense efforts during the Cold War era.
